I proudly announce the availability of the first teaser to Ara’s Tale.
It has been a long road since the start in summer 2009. And there is still a considerable amount of work to be done before the planned release in the second half of 2011.
This teaser shows the first completed piece of work done by the whole team which is
- Mikkel Nielsen: sound, soundfx and sound mix
- Philippe Rey: Music
- and me: the rest 🙂
A big thank you to my team. It has been a tense time these past days, but the outcome is worth every effort we put in.
You can watch the teaser online on vimeo (see below) or directly download the avi file (960×540, xvid, pcm sound, 45MB)Â from here.
Please do yourself a favor and turn up the volume on your sound system, it is really worth it !
And a last thing to note. Ara’s Tale has now an official web site. Give us a visit !
If you like it, please spread the word !
great! congratulations to this teaser. Really impressive how much effort you put into this project. I hoped to see the dragon! Anyway, good luck with the rest of the animation.
Merry Christmas
Thanks Martin !
The sound/music collaboration added just another bit of magnitude on the scale of this project.
I am sorry about the dragon, but then its only a teaser 😉
Merry Christmas to you too !
The teaser is superb. From my point of view it has a hight quality level.
There is only one change that could be done, the fist two shots (with the bridge) could be swapped. The second one could become the first one. But I am not sure that will be the best solution.
Your work is fantastic!
Thank you , Germano !
Your opinion means a lot to me.
Interesting idea, about the swap. I wont change the teaser, but I will try and see whats the effect.
I tried hard to get something connected out the shots I had so far, without telling the exact story the short will have. It was a nice exercise.
And he most important part was to work out a way for our team of efficiently collaborating.
Excellent production. Music gives great atmosphere. I’m really looking forward to this when it is released. What is the planned length of the animated short? Do you think you will manage it on your own or will you need to grow the size of the team to deliver it?
Have a well earned rest over the Christmas period and best wishes for 2011.

Thanks ijay !
Yes music and sounds make a big difference.
The final short will be 7:30 min without credits and I plan to finish it on my own. The whole cg production pipeline is not built around a distributed effort, and I have learned that the sound/music collaboration i already not an easy thing to handle.
Setting up a workflow where ore artists can work on may be a bit too much of work.
But then there is the area of special effects where there might be work to give to experienced artists, if anyone is interested in such a thing.
good job!!!! i want watch the final short!
Thanks pablo, me too 😉 .
WOW! WOW! WOW!
Gratuliere – super! Freue mich schon auf das Gesamtwerk!
